Interlibrary Loan and Digital Delivery request options in Libraries Search
As of March 4th, 2024, Libraries Search and "Find It" databases will present options for requesting content unavailable in the University of Minnesota's collections or digitizations of local print materials through the Interlibrary Loan (ILL) & Digital Delivery service. These request methods are tied to a new, enhanced Libraries Search with additional resources from participating libraries that agree to support the same delivery times and generous loan periods.
Note:
- You will need to sign in by clicking "Sign in" at the upper right to access the request options.
- Delivery times are approximate and may not include additional delivery time to locations other than Wilson Library. This includes home, office, or other library pickup locations which may take an additional 2-4 days depending on the preferred delivery choice.
- Only 1 chapter can be requested per request.
- If these requests can not be filled by the participating libraries, they will be processed in the main ILL system.
Requesting books, other physical materials, or chapters
When requesting a physical book, you can request the entire physical book or just a chapter. Only submit 1 chapter per request.
Once you click the Request button for the book, chapter, or article, you will see some new request screens that should be filled in with most of the information the library needs for your request. You can also enter any notes you want to share with the Interlibrary Loan department.
For digital requests, you must acknowledge the copyright statement to submit the request. Your University of Minnesota email will automatically be filled in. Only 1 chapter can be submitted within a request. Multiple chapters in one request will not be accepted.
Requesting articles and other digital content
Digital request buttons will offer delivery within 24 hours or 1-5 business days
The record for an article requires only your email address, which is automatically filled in, and to click the acknowledgment of copyright.
If you are on a journal record, you will need to fill out the form with all of the article information.
You will receive an email notification when the digital PDF is ready for download. Choose the link for University of Minnesota / SAML users. The file should download directly to the Downloads folder on your computer.
The notice will have the following information:
Status of requests in My Library Account
In addition to the emails you get from the library about the status of your requests, you can now check your library account for the progress of your requests on the Requests tab. If your digital request is ready, you can download the file directly from your library account.
