About UBC

The University Book Club is an inclusive group of book lovers at the University of Minnesota. The club meets once monthly to discuss a diverse array of books and genres, from science fiction to poetry.

The University of Minnesota Book Club (UBC) was founded in 2017 by a number of students on the Twin Cities campus. The University Book Club went on hiatus at the start of the Covid pandemic. In the fall of 2022, library staff in Wilson were approached by a student employee restarting the UBC and asked if there was a way to create ties to University Libraries. The initial UBC board was made up of two library staff members who work as advisors, two library student employees and two members of the libraries Student Advisory Board. The UBC’s first book discussion was held on March 25, 2023 in the Upson Room in Walter Library.

The book club is open to all university undergraduate, graduate students and staff. Learn more at z.umn.edu/umnbookclub
