What is a makerspace?

Libraries Makerspaces are open to UMN folks from all majors, programs, and skill levels. Equipment and materials are always free for UMN students, staff, and faculty.

You'll find 3D printers, smart cutters for vinyl stickers and other materials, soldering irons, sewing machines, VR headsets, rotary tools, and software for 3D modelling and embroidery design. Plus, basic supplies for prototyping and crafting.

You can play virtual reality games on an HTC Vive, Oculus Go, or Oculus Quest in the libraries.

3D modeling and printing

You can create 3D printed projects using the PRUSA 3D Printer.

Vinyl cutting

You can create vinyl cut projects using the Roland Vinyl Cutter or Cricut Maker machines.

Sewing and embroidery resources

You can create sewing and embroidery projects with the Brother sewing machine, or our craft supplies.

Hand crafting resources

You can created handmade crafts with the Button Maker, Axidraw, and miscellaneous craft supplies.
