What is a makerspace?
A makerspace is a collaborative work space for making, learning, exploring, and sharing that uses both high-tech and no-tech tools. You'll find 3D printers, smart cutters for vinyl stickers and other materials, soldering irons, sewing machines, VR headsets, rotary tools, software for 3D modelling and embroidery design, plus basic supplies for prototyping and crafting. Makerspaces are a place where you can try new things, feel free to fail, and pursue passion projects or hobbies with other individuals across all of campus.
The Libraries Makerspaces are open to UMN folks from all majors, programs, and skill levels. Equipment and materials are always free for UMN students, staff, and faculty.
