Bulk processing tools
These tools or programs are able to conduct processes in batch form - multiple files at a time - to fulfill a variety of purposes.

Clean up tools
Tools to assist with cleaning up file locations.
- Find Empty FoldersA tool that identifies and allows one to remove empty folders within a chosen location. Operating system: Mac
- Remove Empty Directories (RED)A tool that identifies and allows one to remove empty directories within a chosen location. Operating system: Windows
File transfer tools
Tools to assist with moving or copying files from one location to another that use some sort of check to verify the move/copy was done without errors.
- BaggerPackage files together in bags. Bags can be transferred to other locations and their contents verified for successful transfer. Metadata profiles can be used to capture desired information. Operating system: Mac/Windows
- Data AccessionerTransfer files from one media to another and capture descriptive and technical metadata in the process. MD5 checksums are used to verify the transfer. Most useful when files are part of an accession. Operating system: Mac/Windows
- TeraCopy (Mac)A tool that can copy or move files from one location to another without changing the created date or modified dates of the file. Various checksums can also be run to verify that the files are the same after copying. Operating system: Mac

Renaming tools
Tools to assist with renaming groups of files.
- Bulk Renaming UtilityFile names can be appended, prepended, or changed - specific settings allow users to choose how this happens. Multiple actions can be taken at a time. Operating system: Windows
- Name ChangerProgram allows for bulk renaming of files by appending, prepending, or changing file names. Actions are taken individually. Operating system: Mac
- RenamerProgram allows for bulk renaming of files by appending, prepending, or changing file names based on a set of rules. Operating system: Windows
- Windows Directory Statistics (WinDirStat)Visualize the contents of selected drives, learn more about the properties of selected content, and remove content if desired. Operating System: Window [Disk Inventory X is the Mac version.]
Quality control
Tools to assist with ensuring quality of metadata or other types of data clean up.
- Metadata Quality ControlCompare metadata fields to verify technical and administrative specifications of files. Tool is useful for performing quality control tasks especially on the batch level. Operating system: Mac/Windows
