Information about photographs, artwork, posters, and fine art photographs, as well as selected images from the collections of the MHS are included in this database. These historical collections visually represent Minnesotans, their lives, landscapes, leisure and occupations from the pre-territorial period to the present.

Google's collection of millions of images employs "robots [that] analyze dozens of factors on and about webpages (like captions, descriptions, and other contextual information) to understand and index the images on the Web. Google also applies sophisticated algorithms to the Images index to remove duplicates and to ensure that the highest-quality results show up first." The searches aren't perfect, but the number of images for any search is amazing.
